Everything you need to know to make an Arduino-based oceanography research platform from scratch with no experience and basic tools! There are multiple system builds depending on science mission:

  1. Traditional CTD (salinity, temperature) with a 1.5in and 2.0in PVC or 2.0in steel pipe version (top right, both bottom)

  2. Temperature logger (long-term temperature only monitoring, no pressure sensor, top right)

  3. Bottom Pressure Recorder (BPR, pressure only for wave/tide measuring, middle right)

  4. Surface float (salinity, temperature, optional GNSS/location)

From top left to bottom right, as one reads: CTD 2.0in PVC, temperature logger, surface float, bottom pressure recorder, CTD 2.0in steel, CTD 1.5in PVC
